So MSE doesn't automatically update itself to the new version when doing updates? How did folks find out a new version was out? Any new bells & whistles?

I do know the site says to remove all other spyware programs before upgrading and i wanted to double check before I do this because it is a bit of a process. Do you need to uninstall them totally?
