Once you install NVDA, it's a good idea to keep it as a backup in case JAWS
crashes. This way, if you ever lose speech, you can just press the hot key
for NVDA to launch it so that you can determine the problem. Also, NVDA is
useful for navigating web sites that JAWS may have trouble with. You can
always uninstall NVDA if you don't like it.

No, you don't have to worry about NVDA overwriting JAWS. You can use
both screen readers on the same computer.
