Hello there;
well, it sounds like your setup is okay;
I'm assuming your network wireless card drivers are installed?
give the following one more try.
1, control panel;
2, N=network sharing center.
3, now down arrow and,
press enter on connect to a network link;
4, now tab until you hear, show combo box, "all 1of3,
tab once and enter on refresh button.
you should see all the wireless connection networks,
if you see your network connection available,
tab to connect,
now you should see/hear;
next button,
however,
tab until you hear;
I want to enter the network key or passphrase instead press enter.
now you need to type in your password,
and you will need to verify.
then go to connect,
let me no if this helps.

password protected wireless modem
Hi David,
I appreciate your help. Unfortunately, we were not able to connect by
following the instructions. So, I am still trying to sort out the situation.
The settings on the modem are as follows.
Basic Settings
To enable and secure a wireless network follow the steps below.
1. Turn Wireless ON.
Wireless:
On
2. Change the SSID setting to any name or code you want.
SSID:
2WIRE679
3. Secure your wireless network by clicking on the button next to WEP
64-BIT WEP
4. Select a Key.
Use Factory Default WEP key (64-bit)
Create a 64-Bit WEP Key
*****
A 64 bit WEP key is 10 hexadecimal characters or 5 ASCII characters
5. Click "Apply" to save your changes.
Submit Query
These are all the wireless settings that it gives me. So, when the computer
starts asking for more information I am not sure what to set it too. Any
ideas?
I very much appreciate how you have been trying to help me.
God bless,
Mark

How to setup a Vista wireless connection
1. go to "Start Menu""Control Panel"Network and Internet".
2. Now go to "Network&Sharing Center" and select "Connect to a network"
3. Choose "Show All" and press the enter button. If you find active network
connections, select the one you want, click on "Connect" and don't forget to
check
the option that reads "Start this connection automatically". If you check
this option, Windows Vista will connect automatically to the selected
network
every time you log in.
If no networks are found, you can manually enter all network settings. This
is how you do it:
In the "Connect to a network" window, click on "Set up a connection or
network", Select "Manually connect to a wireless
network" and press the "Next" button.
First, enter the "Network name". In some cases the network name is identical
to the name of the
router
- for example, my router is a Linksys, so the name of the network is
Linksys.
Choose the security type and the encryption you use on your network. Now
type the security key and check the option "Start this connection
automatically".
Click the "Next" button, then click "Connect and that should be all. You
successfully configured a connection to a
wireless
network.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] How to get vista computer to connect to
passwordprotected wireless modem
Hi
Today we activated the password protection on our 2wire DSL modem. The
windows 7 and the windows XP computers both connected with some work.
However, neither of the vista computers will connect to the wireless
modem.
What can I do to connect these computers to the modem? I researched the
situation on the internet with no real help. I don't recognize the modem
connection interface on vista. It works very differently than my windows 7
machine.
Any help is appreciated.
God bless,
Mark
