http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-core_processor

A dual-core and quad-core processor have sort of parallel-running processor parts, to allow more processing to happen over same time-frame - that's a sort of layman's version, but think of it this way:
dual = 2
quad = 4

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Dual core versus Quad core processors

Hi All;

Running Windows7 64 bit, what would be the advantage of a Quad core
processor versus a dual core processor? Also, what is a good processor
speed? This computer will be running 3 screen reading programs. I am
asking for a friend who is in need of a new computer. All advice will be
greatly appreciated. Thanks much. Take care.
Mike
