Hi, I have what I think is an unusual problem. I hope that I can make sense.
I have a desktop SP with all the latest updates. I also have a laptop using windows7 64 bits. I am using a netgear router to connect to the Internet (IE8) with my laptop to browse the Internet and to send and retrieve my email.
Here is the problem. While on either the desktop or laptop (either one is on while the other is off), I have no problems accessing the Internet. However, if I am on the desktop and I go to get on the laptop or vice-versa (both computers are running) I can no longer access the Internet or get my email. I get the message something like Internet cannot be found.
Usually I have to shutdown both computers and then unplug the cable modem and the router to reset them. I wait about a minute and then connect everything again and bring up either computer and the Internet is accessible.
Here is another weird problem. While on the desktop, my wife is on her laptop (using XP with the latest updates( and we both still have access to the Internet.
My signal strength is excellennt on my laptop and as far as I know, there seems to be no other problems.
Can anyone direct me what to do to eliminate this annoyance? I an getting tired of disconnecting and connecting the cable modem and the router. I appreciate any help. Thanks.
