save it as a plain text file from word itsself?
I think that should then just get rid of column layout, without messing up
content ordering etc.

When I brought it into a blank word template, so asto save it, I found
that it was in collumnar form, much like a newspaper article.
How do I convert into a regular document, so as to trim away some unneeded
material, so that I can save the article?
