Here is more info:

We are excited to tell you about a new program on WXXI Reachout Radio
beginning Wednesday, January 5th at 5:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, January 5th (repeated Sunday 1/9) at 5:00 p.m. we bring you a
brand new program - ViewPoints, with Nancy and Pete Torpey. For some time
we've wanted to bring you a show that tells you about technology and
services that may help you deal with vision loss.
Then one day a listener said to me, "I hear about all these things, but I
don't use them because I just don't know enough about them."
And another listener said, "There's so much out there for us. We just need
to know what is available." And with those two concepts, the program was
born.

ViewPoints is a weekly, half hour program that will include some simple tips
for daily living, the presentation of a low tech item - a high tech item,
and a focus topic. Topics include things like screen magnification, cell
phones, speech synthesizers, the National Library Service, refreshable
braille devices, on-line shopping, money identification, Tell Me telephone
system, accessible games, audio reading materials and how to download
podcasts and other audio file formats. There's something for everyone on
ViewPoints.

The Hosts: The Torpeys are both PhD's and retired from Xerox. Nancy is
sighted and Pete is blind, and they've been learning together for many
years. When he was working, Pete tested the quality control of color
printers - something pretty amazing for a man with vision loss. Through his
years at Xerox he has worked to develop all the equipment he needed to do
his job independently - and we'll hear from much of his life experience in
these programs. Pete and Nancy have two adult children, and they love to
travel, hike and enjoy music together. The flavor of the program is very
personal and you'll get to know and love Nancy and Pete right away.

So I hope you'll tune in each week on Wednesday or Sunday at 5:00 p.m. for
ViewPoints on WXXI Reachout Radio.
