On my windows 7 and windows XP machines, if in the folder, alt + T to
activate tools menu, arrow up once to folder options, and hit enter on it,
ctrl + tab once to view tab/page, and then tab like twice to something like
advanced treeview, arrow down it to the hidden files/folders submenu, which
should be open, or else you'd need to right arrow to open it, and move down
to what's the second option this side, and hit space bar on the show hidden
files and folders item to activate that option, and then tab over to and hit
space bar on ok button.
You might still then need/want to hit F5 to refresh the view in that folder
then, but anyway...

When in that folder, on the view menu in windows explorer, on the view
page, there's a sort of advanced set of settings, and one of them is
related to hiding/showing hidden files, etc., and the change should only
really apply to the current folder, unless you tell it to apply changes
to all folders, but I wouldn't recommend that one.
