Hi all,
There is a great program called total recorder that saved me a lot of
pain!When i first upgraded to windows seven, i found out that my new
laptop's sound card doesn't support the mixing featture. After that, I
learned from this list that total recorder can record everything that
comes out of the sound card, either software or microphone. I got this
program and wow!! I couldn't be happier! Now I have no problem recording
tutorials for the blind community in my country. I have to keep silent
while my screen reader is talking of course though as Jaws voice comes
louder and clearer than mine of course...

What i meant was I was going to record something and when I wanted to use
jaws I was going to shut up and let jaws do its thing and then talk, so
pretty much I wouldn't talk while jaws was talking.
Nonetheless, I will just talk and not worry about the screen reader.
The reason why I asked is because I would like to record some stuff for my
students at the school district but also use my headset and have jaws be
heard as well, so the student can hear what is going on.

One way to do it, is to turn up the volume on your speakers so Jaws can be
heard better,
but if the volume
is too high, it can cause problems with the recording.
Otherwise, it would depend on the capabilities of your soundcard.
Keep in mind, when making an audio tutorial, that even if you get your voice
and Jaws to about the same volume level,
if you talk at the same time Jaws is, people with hearing difficulties, such
as myself, might have trouble hearing Jaws.
Actually, when I record, I don't have Jaws in the foreground, because I want
the listener to hear what I am saying,
and other screen-readers won't say things exactly the same as Jaws anyway.

Great resources there on the site for gold wave. I was wondering is it
possible to record something on gold wave using your headset and while
recording, your voice and screen reader can be heard at the same time?
There are 10 classses from this gentlemen on here and I just finished
listening to class one, well, not completely, I had to write this question
before I forgot lol. Anyways, I recorded a test one and I can hear the
audio
and barely hear my jaws in the background. If using a headset while
recording and I cannot achieve what I want it to do then when I record, I
will not use the headset.
Back to the files now!

HI. I'm having difficulty jumping to a particular spot in a large file
while in Gold Wave. I've tried the following and it doesn't work.
I do a shift E. Then in the start marker edit field I input the time
within
the file I'm wanting to jump to. I save that, then I hit the space bar
to
play. However, it always starts playing at the beginning of the file,
not
where the start marker is. In fact, no matter where the start marker is,
it
always seems to begin play at the beginning of the file.
This is with the latest version of Gold Wave, by the way. Not sure how
to
proceed. Any tips? As it is, I have to fast forward to get to where I
want, even in a huge file. Thank you.
