Hi Janet;

Try the following.
1. Press Insert / Jaws Key + 6, on the number row above the main keyboard to
open the configuration manager. Or, you can press Insert / Jaws key + F2,
to Run Jaws Manager, press the letter C, when you have / hear configuration
manager, press enter.

2. Press control, shift, + D, for the default configuration manager.
3. Press Alt + S, for the Set Options Menu.
4. Press the letter T, to open Text Processing or, arrow down to Text
Processing, & press enter.
5. Tab to, Detect Languages. If this box is checked, press the spacebar to
uncheck it, tab to okay, press enter, press control + S, to save your
changes, & Press Alt F4 to close the configuration manager.

Below is a description of the Detect Languages option.

This check box allows you to enable or disable automatic language detection.
If you select this check box, JAWS attempts to identify the language of the
current word and then reads it using the appropriate synthesizer voice for
that
language.
If you clear this check box, JAWS does not change the voice of the
synthesizer when reading text written in another language.
This setting is checked by default.

Press ESCAPE to close this message.

Whenever you are in the configuration manager and you would like to know
what a certain option does, with the option highlighted, press Insert / Jaws
Key + F1, if their is a description available, a dialog box will open,& Jaws
will read it to you.

Hope this helps. Take care.
Mike

Thanks so much Mike. But stressing the point just a bit,< Is there a way
to
keep jaws speaking U.S.> English everywhere? As long as it's English,
I'd like it to sound the same irrespective of font, or site . Thanks for
  any assistance.
  Be blessed,.
