Subject: [Blind-Computing] Instructions to change the Normal template inWord.

Dear Friends,
I discovered with the help of a real Tecky, what I believe is the easiest way to change your "Normal Template" in Microsoft Word 2007, although I believe this would work in any Word program. Perhaps I am the last to know this, but it is a great benefit to me, so I am sharing this.

Here are the instructions to change the Normal template in Word.
I tried these and verified they work.

1. Open up Microsoft Office Word.
2. Press control-O to open a file.
3. Tab to the 'Files of Type' combo box. Down arrow until you hear your screen reader say 'Word Macro-Enabled Templates (*.dotm). 4. Shift-tab three times to the 'Trusted Templates' button and press enter on it.
5. Down arrow until you hear 'Normal.dotm' and press enter.
6. If using JAWS, press insert-T to read the Windows title bar; if using Window-Eyes, press control-shift-t to read the title bar. In either case, verify that 'Normal.dotm' is in the title bar, this is how you know you are editing the template. 7. Use your ribbons to make whatever changes you like to margins, fonts, paragraph styles or whatever. 8. When you are done, press control-s to save the modified 'Normal.dotm' template. 9. Close word. Now, when you open up Word to create new documents, they will be created using the Normal template you have modified.

With Best Regards,
Alan
