hello
not sure if it was this list i wrote to regarding how to set templates for
use in m s word 2003 using xp.
but someone sent me a step guide to which i followed.
however i no longer have the email so no idea who sent it.
but i do have the information saved as a word document.
anyway the person who wrote said this
1. Create a document you wish to use as a template
2. Click Save or use the Ctrl + S shortcut key
3. In the Save dialog box, navigate to the templates folder (the path is
generally C:\Documents and settings\user name\Application
data\Microsoft\Templates)
4. Click Save
To create documents based on this template, select New from the File menu.
In the New Document task pane, click on General Templates. You should see
your document under the General tab. Highlight it and then click OK.
You can also open the template from the Program menu in Windows. Simply
click New Office Document. You will be presented with the Templates dialog
box, from which you can select your document on the General tab.
One of the benefits of creating a template using the preceding steps is that
you can easily make changes to the template. Opening the document from
Windows or by using the Open command in Word will open it as a regular
document, allowing you to make changes that will then be reflected in the
template.
Note: This applies to Microsoft Word 2003 running on Windows XP. If you're
using Office 2007 or Windows Vista, find out how to create Word templates
quickly
now this is what i did and got these things of which i am not sure what they
are or what they do.
1 press alt f for foxtrot
select new and press enter
then these appeared
some tabs of which one said templates on office online the other said on my
computer, i presume this is the one i want so i press enter.
i get the following message spoken by jaws
blank document
using the right arrow key i get these spoken by jaws
xml document, email,webpage,
pressing the down arrow i get these two announcements
blank document and yvonnes headed letter.
i presume yvonnes headed letter is the template i wanted to create
i press enter and a new document for editing is there to type what i want in
to.
now what are thos ones mentioned above for and how do i delete the empty
blank document?
and last but not least what happens if i type something in to yvonnes
headed letter and i save it
when i press at f and select new if i go to yvonnes headed letter will the
document be blank or will it contain the text i saved.
any help on this is gratefully appreciated
