Hi Alvin,
How did you determine the amount of space on the hard drive Microsoft
Security Essentials occupies?

Subject: [Blind-Computing] AVG removal and MSE installation

Hi list
It's Alvin.
My AVG license is about to expire next month, and I want to make sure
that I uninstall everything associated with it. What's the best way to do
this?
I am thinking about using Microsoft Security Essentials instead.

I already use it on my dad's desktop, and I want to put it on my HP
laptop.
However, I have noticed on my dad's desktop that it seems to take up
quite a bit of the hard drive. At one point, the computer had around 22
gigs free, but after a while, it has about 2 gigs of hard drive.
Is this normal? This would be my only hang up with using MSE. It seems to
be a hard drive hog. :)

Is there something I can do to minimize this from happening? I haven't
installed anything on the desktop that takes up that much space. At least
I don't believe so.
Maybe Windows update is doing it without me knowing. It often installs
things (according to my dad) when I shut down the computer.

The desktop is using Windows XP Pro SP2 with about 1 Gig of ram and
around 40 Gigs on the hard drive. It's an old computer. Lol

My HP Pavilion notebook has about 2 Gigs of Ram and around 80 Gigs on the
hard drive and is using Windows XP Home SP3.
It is pretty old too. Lol I have had it since the spring of 2005.
It shows signs of wear and tare from time to time, but it still gets done
what I need it to do.
I am looking into purchasing another computer anyway.

Well any info/guidance will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Be blessed!
Alvin
