hello nikolay
thank you for this
around the same time as getting this email i got one from a person who edits for a talking computer magazine
i asked him the same questions as i asked this group
he says you can convert from portrait to landscape .
here is the instruction he has given me
hope it is of use to other members of the list

Hello Yvonne,

On the File menu in Word 2003 select the "page setup" item.

On the "margins" tab you will find a section headed "orientation". The
buttons to switch between landscape and portrait are here. Select the one
you want then press the "OK" button.

Terry.

Hi everyone,

I am afraid there is no function that may convert a table from a portrait to a landscape page. Here is how it owrks: if you create a new talbe the width of the table is set to be equal to the wriable area of the page. That setting is made just at the moment you create the table. If you modify it, so change the width of a column / cell, the talble may be smaller than the writable area or may go into the margin. So if you change the layout of the page so go from A4 to A5 or A3 or to letter format, or from portrait to landscape, that doesn't mean that the table layout will be automatically changed.

Regards.
Nikolay
