Hi list. I have just done a bacckup of some of my files onto an external USB hard drive. I know it is important to try and make sure to use the "safely remove hardware" option from the system tray before unplugging the drive. However, if I turn off the power to the drive? is it okay to leave it plugged in via its USB cable to my desktop computer? Or will this be dangerous to my data when the computer is turned off or rebooted? The drive is not moved around. Rather, it remains sitting beside my computer table on the floor. And so does not get knocked about. The drive is a 500 Gig Maxta hard drive. if that is at all relevant?

Thanks Jason
