Hello David,
Someone had advised to have the e-mail notification pop up
unchecked, but when I went there it was. So I checked it, applied and got
out of the options, went back in and unchecked it, applied and exited. That
seemed to fix it. We'll see if it stays.

I want to say thanks to David and all the others who helped resolve my
problem with Outlook 2003 and e-mail being announced after closing Outlook.
After trying a little bit of all things suggested, Outlook finally closes
completely and no longer announces e-mail while doing other tasks.
