According to that URL the phone has been discontinued and no longer
availible. Only parts may be availible. This is what I had assumed because I
have never seen this phone discussed on any of the general cell phone
discussion lists.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] 22C Cell phone FW: Accessible cell phone
inquiries
Hi list
Thanks for all the info and offers I have received.
Has anyone heard of or used the following phone? 22C accessible cell
phone
The web address I believe is:
http://www.OwasysUSA.com
I vaguely recall hearing of it some years ago, but I haven't heard
anything since then.
I am signed up to their mailing list, but I haven't heard anything there
for a while either.
The last message I received from them says the following:
"Remember, this is a low-volume list for news about the Owasys 22C. You
cannot post to this list."
Is there anyone who has one or knows someone who uses it?
God bless!
Alvin

If I remember right the t mobile dash does offer speech just not for
everything. It can announce in coming calls, text messages and call
waiting.
Since it didn't speak everything I wanted it to speak, I purchased
mobile
speaks as well...

Alvin: A lot of it will depend on what platform, or operating system, is
used on the phone. I have an HTC Dash phone through T-Mobile. It has a
Windows platform. So I had to purchase a software program called
MobileSpeak. Unfortunately, it is somewhat pricey (I paid about $500 for
it). T-Mobile does not really have a TTS (text to speech) application at
this time. However, if it is a phone from AT&T, there is an application
called TalkBack and I believe it is a free program. HTH

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Accessible cell phone inquiries
Hi list,
It's Alvin. I just received one of those government cell phones, but
I'm
wondering if there is some software out there that will make it more
accessible to navigate the menus and use it fully.
It's a Sprint phone.
Also, this is my first cell phone ever, so I'm kind of new to it. :)
UP until recently, I have just been getting by with AT&T calling cards.
I
know crazy right? Lol
But they seem to be phasing those out. :)
I am totally blind so some type of speech output would be useful.
I have memorized how to turn it on/off, and I know how to dial others
using it.
The essentials. :)
I'm just asking to see what's out there. I may end up getting another
cell phone in the future that has more accessibility, but this will
suffice for now.
I'm just wanting suggestion and possibilities of accessible cell phone
software/hardware.
I did a little research and ran across some software called Mobile
Speaks
and Talks.
is there anyone who uses any of these? How are they, and Are there
others?
Are there any other lists that deal specifically with this? Can someone
please point me in that direction? :)
Thanks in advance!
God bless you all!
Alvin
