Hi Anna, When you open CCleaner there is a dialogue box that says, Check for updates..., press enter on Check for updates & it takes you to the CCleaner / Piriform website. Here you can arrow down & it will tell you if there is a update available or if your version is up to date. HTH Take care. Mike

It needs to be updated periodically only when program updates become available.
