Melissa: Please let us all know if you have success. I have a client who regularly sends access to documents in Google Docs. It sort of works some of the time, but despite there being claims of accessibility and despite there even being a help file describing how to use Google Docs with a screen reader, at present, it is all a waste. I've contacted technical support at Freedom Scientific, at GW Micro, and at Serotech. All of them have a stock answer. Google Docs is not accessable, and there is nothing they can do about it. Apparently, Google knows about it and doesn't care. Sometimes, you can sort of figure out what is going on by virtualizing the screen (JAWS key plus Alt plus W, but that is awkward, at best. There apparently is a way to export out of Google Docs into Excel and import back again, but even doing that is hit or miss. Encourage your friend to send you an Excel file. I've been working on this for a year. I wish there could be an alternative. Given the growing popularity of Google Docs, accessibility to that suite of products Is probably the greatest accessibility challenge today. Apparently, all the screen reader makers are just stumped.
