MKV is a metroska video format container. It can be used to host a number of video/audio formats. I think it may become the new standard, replacing avi. Anyway, I'm not sure what you mean by asking if you can burn it to disc....do you want to make a playable DVD?

Hi,

What is an mkv file and can you burn it to a disc? I downloaded something
but it had an mkv extension and once I entered on it, movie maker opened up.

Thanks for any explination/clarification.
