Hello there;
Try the following;
Desktop Shutdown Icon
1. Right click on the desktop
Either press the f5key, or, ctrl+spacebar to unselect icon.
2. Click [New] [Shortcut] to open the Create Shortcut Wizard
Press applications key, up or down-arrow to new sub menu, right arrow or
press enter to open,
Choose shortcut.
3. Type [shutdown -s -t 00] without the brackets.
4. Tab next press enter
Type a descriptive name of your choosing for the shortcut
Example; ShutDownComputer.
5. Tab [Finish]
Press enter.
Now, you have a shutdown icon on your desktop.
If you wish to have a restart/reboot shortcut,
Perform the steps above,
However,
In the create shortcut window type,
[shutdown -r -t 00] without the brackets
Go to next,
Now, type a name,
Example, RestartComputer
Tab finish press enter.
You now have a restart icon on desktop.
Hope this helps.

Sleep now is nice but how about a shortcut for restart? The more we
know
what the computer already has the less we can get taken advantage of by
those who are lurking out there for our dollars.
Thanks so much.
