[Blind-Computing] Word and paragraphs

Word 2010 and Jaws 13. When I hit a hard carriage return, it puts an 
entire line between paragraphs which I don't want, and also Jaws does 
not show the space when arrowing up and down through the document. Is 
there a way to  fix this? I've not set any paragraph settings or line 
spacing or anything different than what was out of the box. I really 
wish Microsoft would not impose these sort of assumptions. Thanks in 
advance for any help you might have. I need to find a solution ASAP.
