You are doing it right.
The second file the one with letters and numbers will launch the game.
Just go to that file and press enter.

I am still confused. I have tried letting the extraction go into the folder
suggested by the computer. I have tried creating a New Folder in the root
directory of my D drive called games. Each time, I get the same three items.

Data, one with dcd and letters, and a readme file. Can somebody send me a
copy of the Extracted files or tell me what to try next?

Make sure that you extract into its own folder, not your root folder.
You must designate a folder when you begin the unzipping.  Your root folder
probably will not allow a file to be copied to it.
