You might try selecting multiple ranges through the Go to dialog.  Press
Control + g or F5 to bring up the Go to dialog.  To select rows 147 and
150, type: 
147:147, 150:150

To select column A and D, type:
a:a, d:d

Hope this is what you want to accomplish.
