This is what I am already doing, but I'd like to know why I have to do this and if there is a way that I can go back to just pressing enter on the link.

u can try, navigating to the link, press application key, arrow down to open
in new window and press enter, that link would open in a new i e window.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Cannot activate some links in I.E. 8

Hi All,

I have been finding a number of websites in which I am unable to activate
the links on that page. When I hear JAWS announce that I am on a link, I
press the Enter key. In more and more situations, nothing happens. I
have
tried using the applications key and have found that Open is not a choice
on
the menu until I have attempted at least once to use the Enter key to
activate the link without success. So the sequence looks like this:

. Navigate to the desired link

. Activate the application menu and find that open is not on the
menu.

. Press Escape to close the applications menu.

. Ensure that I am really on the link.

. Press the Enter key to try and activate the link.

. If nothing happens, activate the applications key.

. Select Open, Open in new tab or Open in new window, and then
press
the Enter key.

. The link is now activated and the new page is opened.

I am using I.E. 8, Office 2010, and JAWS 12 on a Windows7 64bit computer.
I've even tried JAWS 11. I have not gotten around to trying JAWS 13.

Does anyone have any ideas to why this is happening? Is it a JAWS issue,
an
I.E. issue or a Security setting? Is there a way to change it?

Thanks,

Annette
