I received thisthru the contact on my website,
and am just passing it along
as computer related information.
I don't know any more than what is in the message and what I have read on
the website.

Original message follows:

Myself and a small group of independent developers are beginning work on the
development of a computer designed from the ground up for the blind and
partially
sighted. As technology advances, computers get faster, graphics get
flashier, and those with vision impairment get left a little bit further
behind- the
Audible Computer project we are working on hopes to put a stop to this.

The Audible Computer will take the form of a standard PC keyboard, but
inside the casing will be an embedded computer running on recharagable
batteries,
complete with network connectivity, USB ports, and even a HDMI output for
when you want to show something to other people. From the moment you take it
out of the box you can feel in complete control.

Using either the built in speaker, or a pair of headphones connected to the
side of the keyboard your entire computing experience will be audible. Every
function of the computer can be accessed using the keyboard. With simple
easy to use voice prompts that tell you what keys to press every step of the
way
you will be effortlessly navigating your way around your very own audible
word procesor, spreadsheet, email client, web browser, chat rooms, audible
games
and more. Don't know what a key on the keyboard does? Simply push a button
to enter help mode and the computer will tell you what any key on the
keyboard
does.

The project is still in it's early days, but we hope to have a working model
by June of next year. Please check out our page on the Pozible website at
http://www.pozible.com/audiblecomputer
for more details. I would very much appreciate your constructive feedback,
feature suggestions or support to try and make the project a success.

Many thanks,
Damian Sloane
