Hi Jacob,
If you get Jaws to run on Windows 8, don't expect a lot from it, it isn't 
designed for it.
Already been there, done that. smile

Ok, turns out that for whatever reason, windows8 and the built in sound of
the laptop weren't cooperating - now plugged in my external USB sound
card/adapter, and can now activate both narrator, and NVDA, although the
jaws installation seems to not want to work right at the moment - might try
reinstalling it, but, yes, NVDA works, and narrator seems way more
informative as such already...<smile>
