Presumably they actually just sort of copy and paste it into notepad, and
then copy it from there, and paste it into something like the upload/input
form on the relevant website, which has wordpress operating on/in it..?

I will check it out. The Majestic theater group uses wordpress to update
the web page. They extract the information for events from a spread sheet
into word. They then take the word file and move into notpad to remove
formatting and unneeded information. They then feed the text file into
wordpress to be uploaded to the web page.
