It can be a very frustrating relationship at times. David, I made 3 different CD copies of an Adele CD called 21. Every single one of them had troubles when I tried playing them in my CD player. Only one selection was causing the issue but it was so bad that I had to throw the CD away. Finally, after thinking it over a bit, I made a fourth copy and this time, I changed the writing speed. That did it. ITunes isn't bad but I wish it was much more accessible. The newer most recent versions are much more manageable.

Since everything is stored in what ITunes calls the "Library Play List" you have to create a separate play list so that the system won't try to put everything you have on dis. In my case, that recording session would run for more than 4 days. Creating a new Play List is easy. Just tab until you hear New Play List and press Enter. You'll be offered the opportunity to name the new play list. Like so many other programs of this type, a default name is put into that field. Just use your Home key to get to the beginning, highlight the entire name and then type in your own. Now that you have created a new play list which will eventually end up on a disk, the next task is to move the songs you want into that list. The easiest way is to use ITunes's Search function. To reach the Search field, use F6. It should bring you right to the field. Type in the artist's name or the album name. Make sure you spell it correctly. Once you have entered the information, tab to the list which will be created, using that search criteria. This is the great thing about the modern versions of ITunes. They will respond to normal Windows Copy, Paste and Delete functions. To move that entire list into your newly created play list, press Control A to highlight the entire list. Next, press Control C to copy the entire list onto your clipboard. You can also copy and move one song at a time if you want to create a new play list from different sources. Press F6 until you hear the menu of play lists created by ITunes. First Letter Navigation can be used to locate the new play list you created. If there is another list which begins with the same letter, the system will not move to the next play list but a simple down arrow command should bring the focus to the correct entry. Tab until you hear the list of titles for that particular play list. It will be empty of course since it has just been created. Use Control V to paste the list of titles you copied earlier into the new play list. Wait about two or three seconds and then press the down arrow. If everything has worked according to plan, you will hear those titles you selected and copied earlier. Their actual location has not really changed. They are still in the master Library Play List. This procedure creates instructions for ITunes which allows the program to call up those particular selections when this play list is highlighted. CREATING A DISK FROM A PLAY LIST: Load a blank CD into your drive. Press Alt F to access the File menu. Press the letter O which is the direct access key for "Burn To Disk". A new menu will open and the focus will be on the first of several options you can choose when creating a disk from this play list. The default setting for the record speed is "Maximum Possible" and for most applications, that's fine. But if you create a disk and get songs that stutter or which don't play properly, try reducing the speed to something like 8X. In older disk creating software like Roxio, that was the default setting for an audio disk. There is no detectable difference in the sound quality of the finished disk. However, burning a disk at 8X does take a bit longer. To move the recording speed, just use the up arrow. Tab to the next setting which asks you if you want to create an audio CD. For this project, leave that setting where it is. Tab again and you can choose the length of silence between each song. The default is two seconds but you can move it to more time if desired. There is a setting here for no gap between songs. If you are using a program like DVD Audio Extractor, various parts of the program are recorded on short .mp3 files. Since in normal play, there is no gap in the audio when playing a DVD, set the gap so that each successive file plays continuously. Tab to the Burn command and press Enter. NOTE ON UNUSUALLY LONG RECORDINGS: If the total number of kilobytes in the files of your new play list exceeds the maximum space available on a single disk, ITunes will notify you of that and ask you if you want the selections spread over more than one disk. For example, this would happen if you were recording the audio from a movie onto disk. If you press Enter on the Okay button, ITunes will burn the first disk, automatically eject it and wait for you to load a second disk. Remove the first burned disk, set it aside and insert a new blank disk. As soon as you return the drawer to its closed position, ITunes will continue the process.
