I do not use an iPhone, but my daughter and wife do. Apple wants you to use iCloud for these transfers. My daughter, who is an artist, hates this service! The photos are automatically deleted after 30 days and Apple starts charging you if you go over your size limit! She now uses Drop Box to sync her photos on her phone with her Mac. Then she drags pictures out of Drop Box on a regular basis. She set my wife up this way as well. I have heard several Tech Journalists use this approach for Documents and photos from the iPhone and iPad as well. Not sure how different this is than iCloud? Maybe it is just a lack of trust in iCloud?
