While I do agree with what you say I have to admit I'm very happy to find out there is such a service because there is a real need for it. However, to those of you who think Captcha is here to stay I vigorously disagree that an inaccessible Captcha needs to be here to stay. There are many accessible alternatives that people using screen reading software can deal with, and I never stop urging companies where I'm unlucky enough to find them to make the switch. I can point to three or four accessible alternatives, some completely, or some where the audio is reasonable and can be used. I'm so fed up of finding the other kind, and I at least have not been blessed with only five!
And Mr. Ferrin, that is a very big and inaccurate assumption you made, because you run a screen reading software on your computer neither means you could afford it, nor that you have money for extras. If you do you are lucky and I'm glad for you, but not everyone on this list will fall into that category. I used to solve captias for a lot of my totally blind wife's friends for free when I could see to do it because I thought anyone who charged per captia was taking advantage of blind people. Now that I can bareley see to do the captia myself I feel even more strongly that we should not have to pay per captia for a service that should be accessible anyway. Captia is a load of crap and there should be a better, more accessible alternative for securing web sites or whatever people are using captia to secure. I realize this is just my opinion and I am stating it as just my opinion.
