I didn't know one could still use rotary telephones? That is surely nice to know. I could make those numbers fly by when I dialed one of those. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gerald Levy" <[email protected]>

I agree with you 100%. I'm sick and tired of planned obsolenscence and products that are built to break down so that you will discard them and buy new ones. I'm so old fashioned that I still use a vintage Western Electric rotary telephone from the 1960's on one of my land line extensions whose sound quality is superior to the $10 disposable electronic crap that passes for a telephone these days. And if you thought Windows Vista was a disaster, it looks like Windows 8 could turn out to be an even bigger nightmare for MS. Yesterday, the MS executive who was largely responsible for the development of Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 announced his resignation, no doubt to get out before the you know what hits the fan. Win 8 has received a lukewarm reception by many business users who are apparently in no great rush to upgrade, and compatibility problems with some older programs have been reported. So MS's strategy to create a single operating system that will work with all devices from desktop PC's to tablets and smart phones could backfire big time. That's why I plan to stick with trusty old XP as long as I can.

I still prefer XP. I personally am tired of having to constantly learn what I learned before just because there are upgrades. I lived through the 1950's my friend, and believe me they weren't that bad. At least then things were built to last, and once a thing was learned such as the skills necessary to use the writing frame, as a single example, one didn't have to learn to use upgrades to the old standbys. It is for this reason I still use cell phones with buttons. I don't want to learn again something as simple as dialing a phone. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alex Stone" <[email protected]>

Anyone who is still using xp needs to drag themselves kicking and screaming
into the 1950's. I don't know about windows 8, but windows7 is so much
better.

What are some of the differences in windows 7?

Seven is quite different, but after a bit of a learning curve it is like an
