Hi,

I want to thank all on the list that responded to my question about transferring files with DropBox. I will certainly install it on the new computer and log in and start the ball rolling.

I could use a flash disk as Al suggested, but plugging and unplugging the device can sometime get to be a pain.

Again, thanks for all. Take care.

Hi Lennie,

What Al suggested is your best bet but, if you want Dropbox installed on
your Win7 system, you want to install it using the share this Dropbox with
another computer option. When you install Dropbox you will get a dialogue
asking you for your email address etc...

When you get to this dialogue, shift + Tab, to a dialogue box asking you if
you already have a Dropbox account, check this box. Now, tab to the
dialogue boxes to put in the email address & password that you used for your
initial install on your XP computer. Just follow the prompts to get it
installed & once installed Dropbox will put copies of all your XP Dropbox
folders into the main Dropbox folder of your Win7 computer.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
Mike

Lenny,

Why not just use an memory stick, or USB thumb drive as some call
them. Even an external hard drive. Depending on what you have to
transfer it would be quicker than uploading then downloading

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Using DropBox to transfer files

Hi,

I am wanting to transfer folders and files from my XP computer to my
new Windows7 computer. Presently, I have DropBox installed on my XP
computer and I know that I need to install it on the new computer.

What is the best way to do the transfer? I am assuming that I need to
set up a share folder for this purpose.

Any guidance will greatly be appreciated. Take care.

Lennie
