I use to have a system registry addition which allowed speech to start in
Windows 7 at Safe Mode. If you ask around to the CAVI folks or go up to
their web resources it might be up there.

the problem is that the normal drivers are not loaded in safe mode, only
"basic system" drivers a barely minimum video keyboard and mouse driver and
the stuff for the basic systems no sound card drivers,

but see my other responses for a fix

Hi,

Extremely sorry about neglecting that fact. I have not gone into safe mode
myself after losing sight. I was under the impression that JAWS should load
in safe mode too if the computer has it installed because JAWS loads as a
service.

You forgot to mention that there is no speech in safe mode.
Sighted assistance will be needed.

As soon as you hit the power button to boot your computer press the function
key F8, this should take you into safe mode.

I posted a question earlier, about "administrator permission needed to
delete a folder", and when I asked a sighted friend, he said that I needed
to get in to safe mode to make this stop, so, can anyone fill me in on how
to get in to safe mode? tim
