there were people around then, maybe still are who would defend james north even if he shot them in the head! he could do no wrong. and there is no place for abusive or inflamatory messages to a developer, on or off lists such as this. but if you promise a game, several games, take prepayments for those games and then not only never produce them, but never update your customers, ignore requests for updates and eventually, just disappear into thin air, the results are inevitable.
i was on the list back then, even helped run/moderate it for several years, and while the treatment of james north by some list members was unacceptable, his handling of the whole thing was unprofessional, unnecessary and insulting to those who'd trusted him enough to hand over their cash. as in i suggest, most cases on lists such as this, noone did know and will ever know the full ins and outs of what happened and why, so any comments by list members are purely based on what they themselves knew at the time, so may well be misinformed or inaccurate at times. but the overall fact is, he was trusted by the community to produce, and he didn't. as a developer he shot himself in both feet, and manufactured his own downfall so far as the blind gaming community was concerned by not producing as promised and refusing point blank to update his customers with what was happening, pretty basic requirements i'd say. the list has moved several times over the years, so i suspect any archives from around that time of the list are gone forever. i seem to remember it was hosted on yahoo groups back then? the james north thing may even have been earlier than yahoo groups, i really can't remember that far back. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of michael barnes Sent: 30 December 2017 23:28 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: James North - Re: [blind-gamers] A Hero's Call question It's like I said earlier.
