I started using the strategy that Richard described a few months ago,
and I have not failed at lore research since then. If you get
interrupted while doing lore research, you can always swipe back
through your earlier guesses. I prefer to use tier 3 lore pages to
unlock journal entries because there is a 65% chance of success.
Below is an example of a game I just played to get a lore page.
1. A A A A A - 1 red 0 white - tells me there is 1 A in the solution
2. A A A A B - 1 red 0 white - tells me there is no B in the solution
3. A A A A C - 1 red 1 white - tells me there is at least 1 C in the
solution and it is not rune 5
4. A A A C C - 2 red 1 white - tells me rune 4 is C and there is at
least 1 other C
5. A A C C C - 1 red 2 white - tells me rune 3 is A and there are only 2 C's
6. A C A C C - 2 red 1 white - tells me rune 2 is not C so rune 1 must be C
7. C C A C D - 3 red 1 white - tells me rune 5 is not D so it must be
E, also, rune 2 is the only rune I have not discovered, so the D must
be there
8. C D A C E - 5 red - success
