Hi.
What I usually do is just tap down arrow once, so that I'm going along just underwater below where the waves are. This means I can quickly duck up if I need air.
with the robot, if the robot's sound is lower in pitch, I know its below where I am and I can just swim over it. If its sound is higher then its on the same level I am, and I go down until I hit the bottom and go past it that way.
