Technically, an RPG is an RPG if it has some kind of skill-based leveling system. Technically, A Blind Legend would be classed as an adventure game, since it has no leveling system but does have a story line and characters. However, Crafting Kingdom is not, by technicality, an RPG, even though it has a leveling system, because it has no characters. An RPG, as I recall from studying game development in college, is any game which has directly accessible characters, a developed story arc, and most importantly, a leveling system. The genre, however, has been influenced by poorly assigned entrants which call themselves RPGs based on mis- or disinfomation. Some of these games would be best classified as simulations, others as strategies, and still others as adventures. To the original post, we have very few RPG titles which are not text-based. In that sphere, the Choice-Of-games games are not RPG's. I'll have to get back to you on titles which are, in fact, RPG. If someone with the skill and experience is paying attention, This is a market niche not well-filled, either on iOS or even in Windows.
