I am also not musically inclined--my talents lie in other directions. I think that restricting game rewards on a single mini-game is not an optimal solution and that other means ought to be available to unlock those same rewards:
1. Being able to trade for the Manamon to another NPC 2. Using gold--or some other means--to unlock the other rewards and so on. I mean, keep the mini-games, but provide additional solutions. While we are on the subject though, I wish there were more information on how to transform of the Manamon--though I do appreciate that Manamon 2 is trying to make things more interesting. Also, that the only way you can get your hands on certain Manamon is by trading to someone else.
