Everything Ian says is correct except for the need for a mud client.
Certainly, a mud client helps, because it gives you things like aliases,
triggers, and macros for free, but most muds have variations of these
features built in, and it doesn't take anything beyond a standard telnet
client to play a mud. Of course, in the beginning, all muds were played
by all players over simple telnet, but as things advanced, and players
got more into graphical games, muds evolved to provide (some) of those
features found in more local games, if for no other reason, to try to
keep some of the players they'd have otherwise lost.
I still hit muds via telnet from time to time, depending on what
computer I'm using, but for the most part, I'll use a simple mud client
such as muddle or tintin.
So don't worry if you don't have a mud client, you can still enjoy a mud
without one, it just makes things easier if you do have one.

Hi all,
The faster you can understand your screen reader the better for muds I have
found. Reason being using the example already stated about battling multiple
enemies at once. If you can understand your screen reader at a faster speed
your chances of being able to react more in time with what is actually
happening increases.
I often miss things as I can’t understand my screen reader at a fast enough
speed to make me able to react as quick there for I set an alias for the main
commands I use that way I can just keep pressing them and then quickly check
the output window to keep an eye on progress.
You also need a mud client such as VIP mud in order to play them.
Best wishes.

Hi all
I have never played with MUD before.
While I am reading the information from audiogame.net, I have the following
question.
As MUD are text based game, so all mud game should be accessible arent it? why
would some MUD game be regarded as more accessible than the others?
Thanks.
