Dakotah, it sounds like you are running an out of date version of Swamp. The
error 52 was caused when my webhost changed how it handles a few things, and
anyone still trying to run the older version will see that message.

Good morning.
I sent an e-mail last night, to the wrong address, about this problem I'm
having.
Essentially, I'd like to play Swamp again. I tried opening the game and it said
mscomm32.ocx wasn't registered, etc. I didn't see the checkup.exe program at
first, so tried handling it all myself. Eventually, I got it all set up the way
I thought the game would prefer, but I'd already run the windows32bit.bat file
by mistake, so the files were registered twice in two locations. I wasn't sure
if that helped the make things worse, so I unregistered the files in system32,
and reregistered them in syswow64. I got the same error code I'd been getting
all along: error 52, incorrect file name or number.
At this point, I don't want to go any further for fear of creating a more
complex problem.
How should I fix this so I can play the game? Should I have all those files
registered in both system32 and syswow64? Should I remove anything accidentally
copied anywhere it shouldn't be?
Thanks for the help.
