You want to make sure you get the thief for the mines. Talk to a guard and I think they direct you to the captain who gives you a quest. The thief will join your party from that. You typically want to have the ranger on board for forest runs, the priestess for the graveyard and the thief for the mines. That leaves you the third slot to pick the best option after that. Thankfully the remaining party members back at the inn level up even when inactive, so you don’t need to worry about rotation too much. Pick the best option for the area e.g. for the graveyard pick someone like Gwen who has good magical damage, as some opponents there are immune to physical damage.
