On the subject of Pokemon, There’s also Pokemon Crystal Access – a mod that enables blind people to play Pokemon Crystal in a Gameboy emulator that’s included in the package. The tech who created it said working with the Pokemon database took a long time which I think means that she took the characters and mechanics of the games and built an accessible variant around those rather than modding an off-the-shelf title.
