Here's a general drake strategy guide.
First off, as others have said, if you can go around it, do so. Don't fight the drake directly unless it's actually inside the stairwell to floor eight, and if it is and you have a weak party, you're probably better off restarting so it moves elsewhere. Play the rest of the floors, come back for it when your party's significantly higher level (I usually do the drake as one of my absolute last steps just because it's really not that important to overall gameplay), and it won't give you a problem.
If you can't bypass it, keep reading, and hope for a lot of luck. If you just don't want to out of stubbornness, then suffer through the save and reload strategy until you get a perfect run.
Beating the drake with level 7 characters is incredibly difficult, because none of them, with the exception of your wolf, is likely to survive a full-force hit. If all you have is mages and healers, stop reading and restart your game.
The two primary ways you can reliably deal damage to the drake are heavy weapons (great axes) and ice blast. A fighter assassin with a solid axe might be able to carry the day for you. If you have a mage, shrinking the drake will make it easier for that fighter to knock over and increase the number of rounds you have to work with. It will also reduce the damage of both melee and fire breath attacks. Shamans can be useful because they can both shrink and curse. Put those two together, and some of your caster characters might actually survive a hit. No, you should not get a shaman just for the drake - that's missing the entire point of this guide.
When fighting, you want to aim for the head or neck as much as possible. If you have the aforementioned fighter assassin it's not as crucial because a good sneak flurry with that axe can come pretty close to ending the fight in a single round, but perfection is rarely achieved. If you have necromancers, go into the fight with a skeleton for every one of them, and backup corpses to soak up hits where possible.
Even with all this though, your odds are not good. It's doable,
but it's not easy, and all I can give you is a slight advantage,
because for weak characters, the drake just deals too much damage.
If you're really and truly blocked from proceeding, restarting is
the simplest move you can make.
Good luck.
Yeah. The Drake is as far as I get as well.. Jordan

Any way to get past it and go down and work some more floors and get some more levels before attacking it again? Jus some thoughts. shermanator -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Stephen Sent: Sunday, January 30, 2022 11:13 AM Hi. I still can't kill the drake. I've tried webbing it, charming it, polymorphing it, putting it to sleep, but I always end up losing out. I end up losing all my characters.
