In alteraeon at least once a character is started say if you chose thief, do check thief and use your first practices to train your stats until at whatever level you are the mud is not telling one or more of your stats is too low. Keep practices in reserve at all levels and then use practices for skills and spells. This way you have a chance at being effective as you rise in levels. The higher you go in levels, the more practice points get used to train stats so it's best to handle this and monitor as you rise in levels.
