VIP Mud works at present, but may not be supported indefinitely. I would
advise against spending money when there are equal or better alternative
options out there.
If you have a particular game in mind you are trying to play, you should
check to see if that game already has a client package (such as Mush-z
for alter aeon) and use that package rather than trying to start from
scratch yourself.
If you really want to start from scratch (or are forced to due to lack
of an existing package) I would generally recommend Mushclient over VIP
due to significantly better functionality, despite the initial learning
curve and plugins required to get started.
Some games do use VIP, though to my knowledge those packages tend to be
much older.
