Hi everybody,
Well this will be my first installment about this gaming system. Today I will
describe the system itself and the game cartriges.
First of all is the game system itself. It is about five by two and a half by
one inches or about the size of a hand held radio. The top one and a half to
two inches is the slot for the game cartridges, they slide into a hole on the
right side just above the power switch. This power switch is what the tape was
covering so I guess that the tape was there to make sure the game system stays
turned off during shipping. And that is all that is on the right side, the
cartridge slot and the power switch. On the left side are a USB-C charging port
and a 3.5mm headphone jack for private listening. No headphones are included.
The back has a holographic label that covers a screw for disassembling the game
system for those who want to make modifications to accomodate a player with
specific changes needed to play the games. The top and bottom are blank. I
saved the front description for last because this is the side you will be
interacting with the most. The top couple of inches is taken up by a window
that allows you to see which cartridge is currently plugged into the game
system. Yes, I know most people here can't see but this game system is for more
than just visually impaired players.
Below the window is the control area which contains the four buttons used to
play the games, they are labeled A, B, C, and D, and are actually roughly in
the shape of the letters they are labeled with. Three of these buttons have a
second function that is activated with a long press of the button, they are, A
is to pause and resume the game, probably for areas where the game doesn't stop
to wait for your response, B is to lower the volume level, and C is to raise
the volume level. And that is pretty much it for describing the game system, I
will describe the cartridges later so keep reading. The first thing they tell
you to do is charge the battery, they don't say how long it takes but I figured
a couple of hours should be lenty to get started with. I intend to leave it
plugged in over night.
Now for the cartridges. Currently there are five games available, each game is
entirely stand alone in that there is no specific order you need to play the
games in. Each tells a completely separate story from the other games. So I
chose, for lack of any other reason, to play them in alphabetical order.Each
cartridge is about two and a half by one by one half inches. It is not possible
to plug these cartridges into the game wrong, it simply won't fit. One of the
short ends has the edge of a circuit board which connects with the game system
the other short end has the braille I found earlier, it's probably one word
that identifies the game.
The game I will be playing first is Bewilder, so I will be describing how you
play the games with this system using this game. To avoid spoiling your fun, I
will not be describing anything specific from the game, examples, if needed, I
will make up. Here is the description of this game from Truman's web site.

Are you familiar with the dots on some pill medication organizers? Are
the dots on the game system like that? I'm not sure if it's Braille
related, but they're sure handy for independence!

them.
I found some tactile markings that I would guess are some kind of braille
labeling but since I don't know braille I can't tell you what they say. There's

bags could have been labeled sequentially with dots. One dot for the
first game; two dots for the second game, three dots for the third game,

up just to give everything a quick inspection to make sure it all survived
being shipped.
Inside the box I found five smaller boxes which were the five game cartridges.
Also in the box was the game unit itself wrapped in a bubble wrap bag, On quick
inspection I found four buttons in the middle of the front, a USB-C charging
port and I believe a headphone jack on the left, a large square opening for the
cartridges and something else that was covered with masking tape on the right
side. For now I left the masking tape in place until I know what that is about.
And lastly, there was a charging cord floating around in the box. Andunderneath
it all was some papers I suspect is the manual. There isn't much to it so I am
thinking that there isn't much to learn before I can begin playing one of the
games. One thing I will need to figure out before I begin playing, are each of
the games like a chapter in a book so there is a prefered order I should play
the games in.
I put everything back in the box and set it aside until this weekend. Right now
I am busy with another project. Stay tuned, more later on.
