My wife who is sighted says the same thing about the mouse,
as a matter of fact she uses more and more keyboard commands all of the time.

Subject: audyssey: Mouse Demo
Hi,
There seems to be some confusion regarding the mouse demo (that's *demo*).
It's not a game, only a demonstration of how the mouse can be used for
steering of a player's character and used for targeting adversaries.
The game does use full 3D surround sound and so, yes, surround sound
speakers are highly preferable (although, stereo speakers will work.. just
not anywhere as rich sounding and you will lose 3D navigational cues).
I've heard from at least one member that they don't meet the requirements
nor are interested for 'just one game' (again, this isn't a game). For the
others who don't meet the requirements and would like to move into the
twenty-first century, rest assured that you can do so at only slightly more
cost to you than the higher priced accessible game titles.
A good optical mouse can be had for about ten bucks. Creative Labs sells a
4.1 surround sound speaker system for under $50.
We continually hear in the blind community that more games comparable to
high quality computer and console games are desired. So, at some point,
it'll be necessary to perform some minor-and, inexpensive-upgrades.
Btw, the mouse itself has absolutely nothing to do with the screen or
pointing and clicking. It's an input device and how the positional data
gathered from it is used is purely up to the application. The tactile and
physical feedback immersion devices mentioned are also not relevant to the
demo and, quite honestly, sucked when used by the sighted as well.
Best wishes,
James
