I suggest that you check The Hadley School for the Blind. They offer a
correspondence course. Actually, they offer 2 of them. The first is for
people who know nothing about the game, and the second is for those who want
to study more extensively to improve their game. All course materials come
in either braille or recorded format. The beginner's course also includes a
chess set you can use during your studies, and you can keep it if you
successfully complete the first course.
