Hi Ivan, It sounds like you have the game downloaded! The sweets and food give you energy and take it away depending which you eat. They all go in your inventory and you can hit x to examine them or hit enter to eat them. Or you can hit d to drop them again. I have a plan for the bad food and sweets but it is not finalized. On another list I made a few suggestions as to who you should feed the food to. My top choice is a troll. But the troll does not show up on the demo level.
As for the extendible ears, when you hit enter on them in your inventory you should hear a sound of stretching. This turns the ears on and you should hear creatures and the caretaker better when they are behind walls. For example, wait until you are at the caretaker's office when he is in, and then put the ears on.
